The transphobic and bigoted aura in the Lone Star State
Its as if it and Florida are the epicenters in the States for trans bigotry.
We have seen a barrage of transphobic laws in Texas over the last 2-4 years, with there being almost 200 anti-LGBTQ bills that were proposed in this legislative session.
The specific bill I want to talk about today, or rather directive from Texas AG Ken Paxton, is that trans people cant change their birth certificates or their drivers licenses, with him directing them to be changed. This is another one of the many examples of the bigotry radiating out of the Texas statehouse.
Today, I will try to go over the bigotry and the hatefulness, in no particular order, and to the best of my ability, that has interlocked itself in not just Texas, but in the States in general, especially with Orange Fuckface and his ilk trying to genocide us.
Starting with Governor Abbott, he has, like many other Republican Governors or state legislators across the States, said that he wants to take away trans kids from their parents if they are being given gender affirming care, with him issuing a directive to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. On top of this, his Attorney General, Ken Paxton, whom I’d argue is just as slimy as him, if not more, released an opinion equating gender affirming care to child abuse, with him saying that he will “do everything I can to protect against those who take advantage of and harm young Texans.”
I have said this multiple times, but it bears repeating:
Gender affirming care is not child abuse. It isn’t.
Every single major medicinal org in the country has given it their respective stamps of approval, with them also saying that restricting this care could potentially be fatal, so then, do you choose not to listen to the science? Does your hate really not know any limits? Are you seriously trying to say that giving them this care is child abuse? Really?
Moving on before I get too vitriolic, there are more examples of the unabashed bigotry coming from Texas Republicans. A prime example of this was the bill they proposed that made identifying as trans a state jail felony, which can carry up to two years in prison. I covered this in my article that I wrote specifically about this, so I will keep the explanation brief.
How fucking bigoted and stupid do you have to be to classify being trans as “gender identity fraud”? Who are trans Texas defrauding? That’s some thinly veiled bigotry.
It just does it not make sense, as there isn’t a basis of “fraud” or a definition, which I am almost certain is by design, especially since trans Texans aren’t, according to state law, allowed to update their drivers licenses or birth certificates to reflect their gender.
On top of all of this, there was the effort to flat out ban HRT for everybody in the Lone Star State. They had already banned it for trans kids back in 2023, with Texas Congressman Brent Money (yes that is his real name, thanks for asking) saying:
“I want to make it clear that my heart goes out to those struggling with gender dysphoria,” he said, referring to the medical term for the severe emotional distress caused by the misalignment between one’s gender identity and birth sex. “These individuals deserve compassion, support, and real solutions to address their pain — not irreversible procedures that leave them scarred for life. This legislation isn’t about judgment; it’s about accountability.”
I know I’m going to sound like a broken record for how many times I’ve said this, but its so important that it bears repeating every time I bring it up:
Gender affirming care is not child abuse. Let me say it again.
Gender affirming care is not child abuse. It is not abuse of ANY kind, actually.
Not only does Rep Money come off as incredibly heartless, as he restricted a solution that every single major medicinal org in the States, from the American Medical Association, to the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Psychological Association have given gender affirming care their unwavering stamps of approval, and decrying any bans that come against it, so his point of being “scarred for life” starts to fall apart there. Not only that, but he also seems very dumb, on top of his heartless bigotry, which is a problem with the Republican Party writ large.
They see anything that isn’t an unwavering admittance of their fucked up beliefs as fake or “woke”. DEI? To the Republicans, its being used to “discriminate against white people”, which just isn’t true. And that’s just one of many, many examples.
But back to Brent Money, you would think that if you had a solution to a problem to give to people, a solution that has had a near perfect rate of satisfaction, that you would try and make this solution as accessible as possible, especially with this solution being shown to save lives, right?
Nope, the bigoted Red Nazis said. They decided that they are going to, just out of pure, callous bigotry and hatred, restrict access to a drug that has been proven to save lives, just because they want to abuse their kids and send them to conversion therapy camps, which are legal in Texas.
Actual fucking hateful demons, they are. I even feel like I’m doing them too much of a favor by saying that they actually think about these type of things.
I have not paid much attention to Texas State politics to know exactly how the Democratic Party there is responding to these absolutely insane and hateful laws, but if the national response is anything to go off of, I can only hope that they step it up, because their constituents need them to. Don’t follow the response tactic of majority of national Democrats and be spineless. Stand tall, and stand firm.
