OPINION: The Spiral of Elon Musk Into Insanity
Elon has went from a kooky billionaire, who would do some wild stuff, but still overall sane, to a Nazi saluting, deadbeat father in what feels like record time. But how did this happen?
Elon Musk has been in the public eye for ages. Ever since Tesla roared into the scene, we've known and seen Elon’s personality as Tesla became more well known. Back then, I feel like the way to describe Elon accurately, at least how I would, is stereotypical billionaire, but if he was kooky and unoriginal.
Still not a good person, but a far cry from the Elon we see today. If we fast forward to the present though, we see a very very different picture. Elon has now turned into Trump's biggest bootlicker, he continues to still not be present in his kids lives, (and overall just being a bad dad in general), and recently, having one of his wives Ashley St. Clair file for sole custody of his thirteenth (no I did not mistype, I said thirteenth) child because he's been absent in the child's life.
So let's go over how he spiraled down the chain of insanity and turned into a scarily insane governmental official with the humor of a 14 year old boy in 2008.
But before that, slight legal disclaimer: The section about Ash St Clair that I will get to, that is all alleged. Everything here in this article is either my opinion, the opinions of others, or alleged. (Gotta keep that Elon lawsuit at bay, folks!)
Anyways, back to the show.
I’d say the first domino to tip in this hellish spiral came around the time of Elon’s acquisition of Twitter. Now, for those who don’t remember, Elon at the time, had said he wanted to make Twitter a “bastion of free speech”. I wont get too deep into the weeds of the Twitter acquisition drama, but just to summarize:
Elon wanted Twitter to be an everything app and a public square for the internet and to bring free speech to the platform, (which he hasn’t really done).
In the days after the acquisition, he moved at a lighting pace, firing half of Twitter’s existing workforce, telling employees to quit if they couldn’t commit to building “Twitter 2.0” as he called it, and, for the purposes of our story, he unbanned accounts, including Donald Trump’s. Trump’s account had been banned in the wake of January 6th after he used his account to incite the mob. The reinstatement of his account was Elon throwing Trump a metaphorical olive branch of peace, because, prior to this, their relationship wasn’t very good. Elon didn’t support Trump leaving the Paris Climate Accords during his first term, and actually resigned from advisory councils that he was on in protest, while Trump scoffed at his attempts to buy Twitter, calling him a “bulls*** artist”. But the reinstatement of his account was Elon essentially trying to make peace, so to speak.
After this, Elon had slowly, but surely, became Trump’s right hand man. He had began to agree with him on things like the border, in early 2023, for example. He softened Twitters policies and made it much more welcoming for conservatives.
We were watching Elon slowly become of Trump biggest supporters, despite him saying he wouldn’t support or donate to any candidate in the election.
That changed quickly.
Shortly after Trump’s attempted assassination in Butler, Elon threw himself behind Trump fully, donating 45 million to his campaign and created the America PAC. At this very moment, he fully entrenched himself in MAGA and started to buddy up with Trump at a quick pace.
He had a call with Trump on X in August that just seemed like one of his rallies but digitized. However, during this call, Trump floated the idea of creating a government efficiency department, and wanted Musk to be at the helm, an idea which Elon and Trump himself were on board with.
And that was the seed that started what eventually became the Department of Government Efficiency. However, what I, and many other feel sped up his decline, was him finding out he had a trans child. I wont go into detail, because there is a far better article from NBC News that breaks down how he was “quick to anger”, “cold” and narcissistic, among other things.
So that’s the history of Elon and Trumps buddy buddy relationship, or at least the condensed version. There are far more detailed articles out there done by much more talented people. However, this doesn’t scratch the surface of the the things Elon has tangled himself into.
Remember when I mentioned Ashley St. Clair? Yeah. We’re gonna talk about it.
Again, slight legal disclaimer: Everything here in this section is all rumored/alleged. This has not beyond a shadow of a doubt been confirmed, and you will not find me spouting absolute lies without evidence, especially with this being an active court dispute.
To that point, this section, and the article as a whole, will be sourced using publicly available info. That means info that has already been made available to the public either via single journalists, or by reputable news outlets. In the case of some Elon quotes, tweets from his Twitter page will be used.
Elon has a lot of children. He has fathered 13 of them with six different women. (Yes, I said 13.) He has stated that a declining birthrate is civilizations biggest crisis. (I wont even bother to touch that can of worms with a ten foot pole) Recently, hes gotten into a bit of hot water with Ashley St Clair, a conservative columnist, over claims that she is the mother of Elon’s 13th child.
Quick primer, before we continue, if you are curious as to who he’s had kids with, here is this handy dandy chart/ list of all the women Elon has dated/had kids with, in order:

Okay, now that we’re caught up, lets break this down. Ashley is claiming that she is the mother of Elon’s rumored thirteenth child and that he has seen the baby no less than 3 times.
If true, this is all about par for the course with him. Going back to that NBC News article, it talks about how he wouldn't be very active in the lives of his children with his first wife Jennifer:
He was there, I want to say, maybe 10% of the time. That’s generous,” she said. “He had half custody, and he fully was not there."
“It was just a fact of life at the time, so I don’t think I realized just how abnormal of an experience it was."
-Vivian Jenna Wilson, when referring to Elon's lack of presence in the lives of his kids with his first wife, Jennifer (Courtesy NBC News)Yes, it was with his first wife and could have very well changed, but I doubt that, considering the parallels that we're seeing with not only with Ash St Clair, but also with Grimes, his previous girlfriend, who was imploring Elon to stop being a deadbeat dad.
And it's not as if St Clair is making these claims with no evidence either. In text messages that were leaked, they detail Elon’s paranoia and how he is supposedly #2 after Trumps assassination (in terms or of how much people threaten it) and saying to St Clair “I want to knock you up again.” and “We have a legion of kids to make.”
These are just, incredibly weird and horny,to say the least. Specifically the last two where Elon is just dying to make her pregnant again. But it doesn’t stop there. As I am writing this, a spokesperson for St Clair put out a statement (two of them actually) saying to People Magazine:
“This has never been about money for Ashley,” “This is about protecting the best interests of Ashley and Elon’s child from a man who can’t be counted on to even communicate, much less act consistently in the role of a father.”and posting a statement onto Twitter saying
As of now, there hasn’t been an official comment from Musk or any of his spokespeople.
So what did we learn here today?
A lot of things. For one, Elon has been on a downward spiral for ages. It was a slow decline but definitely one we didn’t see coming. From the moment that Trump’s Twitter account was unbanned, and Elon throwing him a metaphorical olive branch of peace saying “Hey, lets talk this over” started this, and it rapidly accelerated with daughter Vivian coming out as trans, with him saying in an interview,
“I vowed to destroy the woke mind virus after that, and we’re making some progress,” he said.
Moreover, it shows how callous at times he can be and how he can be cold, unempathetic, and uncaring. Exactly what Vivian told us last year. Look at what he’s doing with USAID, as an example, he and his team of 19 year olds are cutting funding from USAID and have effectively shut the org down. That funding that they are cutting from USAID is being used for so much good. So much good that is helping so much people. For example, lets look at Ethiopia. USAID money was being used to help fund HIV vaccinations in the country.
With USAID money now not flowing to Ethiopia, people wont get screened, they cant get PrEP, no tuberculosis screening etc. UNAIDS, the UN’s joint program on HIV/AIDS, does a wonderful job breaking down the impact of this paused funding on the people, saying:
Pause of U.S. assistance to community programs and drop in centres serving women, young girls and priority populations at higher risk of HIV infection means tens of thousands of individuals will no longer be able to access critical services such as HIV testing, antiretroviral treatment, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention, and screenings for tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections and support to address gender-based violence. The closure of many drop-in centres and the termination of outreach workers’ and peer educators’ contracts will effectively shut off support to vulnerable groups.
This is just only a tiny tiny fraction of the very real, very human impact of Elon’s rampant cost cutting yes, but it also show’s how callous and just how little empathy he possesses, if any at all.
He is callous, cold, unempathetic, and out of touch. Did you see the interview he and the Argentinian president had at CPAC? (Dont worry, Ill spare you the nitty gritty details,) He waves a chainsaw around and says “I am become meme.”
This is a storm that we saw coming. We saw warning signs of this dating all the back to January 6th, maybe even earlier. But we’re paying the price for our inaction now.
What I think could be taken away from this, is the old saying: Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Hopefully we can learn from this and not let history repeat itself again.
