Gavin Newsom is an anti trans apologist and that shouldn't be ignored
His recent push in political circles has made his anti-trans policies abundantly clear.

I know that the title is a question that kind of answers itself for members of the trans community, but I keep seeing Gavin’s name be brought up in political circles as “the man” to stand up to Orange Diaperface, with his recent redistricting in Cali being among one of many things propelling his potential case for 2028 forward. But what rarely gets brought up his policy on trans rights. And anytime it does, it gets brushed aside with comments like this:
”He stands up to Trump! We should stop looking for the perfect candidate!” (which is a bar so low, fleas in hell could walk over it)
Anytime someone brings up his trans policy, or lack thereof, or talk about his podcast with Charlie Kirk (which i wrote about here), its shoved under the rug, because the Democratic party electorate have appointed Gavin as their golden child, and being critical of the golden child is “division”.
That’s why I’m here. To say something that very few people have said, at least from what I’ve seen:
“Gavin Newsom is an anti trans apologist”
With that out of the way, lets start.
With the recent push that Gavin has been receiving in the media, there has been a recent shine on his policy relating to queer people. He has signed many queer positive laws in California, including:
SB 760- sets standards for all-gender restrooms in public and private K-12 schools
SB 372- requires licensing boards to update records to recognize legally changed names and genders
This is all well and good that he signed these, but he wasn't the one who advocated for them, so while it is good that all of these, which are just some of some of many pro LGBTQ laws in effect in California, were signed into law, Newsom not advocating for it makes it lose weight.
But, moving on, in early spring, Gavin Newsom started his podcast, entitled “This is Gavin Newsom”, a podcast that gives Gavin the opportunity to talk to all different kinds of people. including the ones he disagrees with, trying to “change the conversation”.
The inaugural guest of the podcast? Charlie Kirk.
I’ve already talked about this in depth in another of my articles (you can read that here) so I will just keep it short to avoid repeating myself. Just know that the podcast wasn’t a good look, to say the least. But he deservedly, got shit thrown at him for it.
That began to coincide with the Orange Diaperface becoming more feral and Gavin stepping up to the plate to stop him, with the California wildfires and the deployment of the National Guard, (and later Marines into LA) bringing governor Newsom’s ability to defy and stand up to Trump to center stage.
This does not even begin to come close to all the other bad things that Newsom has done, like clearing up homeless encampments in the city, going on another right-wingers pathetic excuse for a podcast and doubling down on his apologist views, saying that trans people below the age of 25, should not be allowed to have access to gender affirming care.
Care that has been proven to save many lives and has an almost 100% rate of satisfaction.
Through not only the episode that Gavin Newsom had with Charlie Kirk, Steve fucking Bannon, (I wish I was joking, but I’m not), Shaun Ryan, (he’s the host of the podcast I mentioned a little bit ago when Gavin said that trans people U25 shouldn’t have access to care), and a whole host of other things that I’m sure that I missed, it shows that Gavin is a two faced asshole.
He’ll stand up to Trump, say all the things to stand up to him, but whenever anything trans rights is brought up behind the camera, his anti trans apologist views rear their ugly head.
If he makes a serious run at the presidency, and actually wins, it would be disastrous.
His apologist views, trying to appease the Red Nazi’s (A tactic which has surely worked before) would lead to the rolling back of protections and an overall worsening of an already hostile and shitty environment for queer people.

The only thing Newsom has done is out asshole an asshole. It doesn't mean he has citizens interests first. A lot of people didn't buy the rationale for his podcast guests either. I'm an old, straight woman, so my opinion isn't necessarily relevant, but maybe that doesn't matter. It's not a matter of how anyone identifies, it's a matter of our representatives representing all of us.
